I've been a big believer for a long time that having the right gear in your kit is the best way to make sure you're ready, willing and able to make great digital content.
And to that end, I'm making the bold claim that the new iPad Pro 9.7" is the best piece of kit to own.
- it shoots 4K video. Why not show your products, your location your...whatever, in the best possible resolution? 4K looks amazing, all the details are captured and when you come to edit it in iMovie (see below), you'll be able to "zoom" into the video for great close-ups
- iMovie. This is Apple's mobile app for editing videos. I teach workshops on it, and have done for years. It's a great tool, and deceptively powerful. I edit videos on a 5K iMac using Final Cut, Adobe Premier and Adobe After Effects in the office. But for anyone who doesn't want to purchase such software, doesn't have the computer powerful enough to run it, or doesn't have the time to learn how, iMovie on an iPad is a hugely accessible tool for turning video clips shot on your device into wonderful videos for YouTube, Facebook and Instagram
- it's not quite PC-powerful yet, but it's getting there. I've been forcing myself over the last 2 weeks to do as much work as possible using the iPad Pro, whether it's email, updating websites, updated social networks, running client consultations or editing content. And I'm loving it. The long battery life, the compact footprint, and the amazing screen (you haven't seen screen clarity until you've tried a true tone cinema display, believe me), coupled with multi-tasking have made working on the go a delight
- the accessories. I added the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard Case to my basket when I picked up the iPad Pro. The Apple Pencil...works great, but to be honest, the kids have had more fun with it than me. I still need to try it when I'm editing images in Snapseed. The keyboard, though, is absolutely brilliant, and I can honestly say it's one of the best typing experiences I've had, which really surprised me
So if your business needs to up it's digital content creation game, I'd recommend the iPad Pro 9.7" as the device to consider upgrading to.
Take photos, shoot HD or 4K videos, shoot time lapses and slow-mo content, write your blog posts, edit your images...it does it all.
