The Podcast Studio Glasgow - psg1

psg 1 is a 47-square-metre bespoke podcast production and recording studio located within the Abercromby Business Centre, east of Glasgow City Centre. Bridgeton train station is a 5-8 minute walk away, just along London Road. See our location. Access to the studio is wheelchair friendly.

The studio benefits from a separate office/production suite/green room. This is where our 2 editing stations are located. It features a great coffee machine and a massive sofa where you can sit and chat with us or watch the recordings taking place in the studio being live-streamed onto our TV.

Up to 4 Rode Procaster mics can be utilised at the podcast table. These are dynamic mics, so they’re very good at rejecting unwanted sounds or room ambience. The mics run into the Rode RODECaster Pro Studio Mixer. This allows us to fine-tune the audio from the mics to best suit your voice. The mixer also has programable buttons to trigger jingles and sound effects. It has Bluetooth connectivity. We have a dedicated phone for the mixer, so you can supply guests with the phone number to call in and participate in your podcast. Or you can have guests connect via Zoom, Teams or Google Meet, allowing you to expand the number of people involved in your podcast.

We have a second seating area with 3 mid-century easy chairs. You can choose to record your podcast sitting here, using either Electro-Voice RE320 dynamic mics, Rodecaster Pro mics or AKG D5 Professional Dynamic Live Vocal microphones fixed to microphone arms.

All of our microphones are run through SubZero SZ-MB1 Single Channel Microphone Boosters to provide plenty of clean gain, ensuring your audio is loud and clear, without the addition of any unwanted signal noise.

You can choose to fully control the audio while you record, or you can leave that to us. Either way, when your recording is finished, we’ll pop the microSD card from the mixer into the computer and upload the file to Google Drive. We’ll then email you a link to download it. Alternatively, we can post-produce your podcast episode, edit as you see fit, add intro and outro music, etc. Then we’ll send you the edited file via Google Drive.

If you opt to create a video of your podcast episodes, you can shoot with up to 3 Black Magic 6k Cinema Cameras and 1 Canon C200 cinema camera. These are routed into a Blackmagic Atem Mini Extreme Pro ISO switcher, allowing you to live switch between the camera angles. As with audio podcasts, we’ll send you a link to download the video file you’ve created via WeTransfer or Google Drive.

Located outwith the 2 podcast recording sets is the production area where your producer can sit. Here they’ll have access to an M1 Mac Mini hooked up to dual monitors displaying the live camera feeds via the Atem Mini Pro video switcher. Here they can also monitor the audio from the Rodecaster Pro. An Elgato Stream Deck is on hand for switching scenes, adding graphics to the live stream, etc.
